Scholarship Funds

TeacherEd12

Scholarships reward academic excellence, recognize outstanding achievement, and ease the burden of student loans. They are the most popular gift designation for donations that support the University.

Contributions to the FHSU Scholarship Program help recruit outstanding freshmen and transfer students through academic awards and departmental Awards of Excellence. If you wish to help the university attract promising students, please consider a gift to the FHSU Scholarship Program.

New scholarship funds are also needed. They are a wonderful way to support a department, remember a loved one, or honor a friend or colleague.

Scholarship fund types; endowed and annual

Click here to view the "Establishing a Scholarship Fund" form.

Endowed scholarship funds require an initial contribution of $10,000, which can be made over a three year period. The original contribution, as well as any future contributions, is invested, and only the allocated earnings are used for scholarship awards. A portion of the earnings is also reinvested so the fund continues to grow. Endowed scholarship funds are gifts that continue giving. The principal is never spent, and the fund provides scholarships for current and future students.

Annual scholarship funds require a minimum $1,000 annual contribution. All of the contribution is available for scholarship awards each year.

Scholarship designations; unrestricted or restricted.

The donor decides how a gift is used.

Unrestricted scholarship gifts support the FHSU Scholarship program.

Restricted scholarship gifts support specific student groups, such as students with a certain grade point average, grade classification, or a specific major or area of study.
