Jack Heather passed away on August 26, 2011. Jack taught at Fort Hays State University from 1950 until 1988. Jack may have had as much impact on students as any faculty member in the institution's history. Jack's impact came from his unique personality and intense dedication to student success. Jack established several legacies, including the FHSU Radio and Television programs and a highly effective tradition of hand's on/experiential learning that we still emphasize.
He also established the "Jack and Peggy Heather Scholarship Fund." Since the fund's establishment in the 1980's, two to four junior and senior students have received scholarships annually. We have talked with Peggy and we have agreed that in Jack's memory, we would like to build on this scholarship and add to it between now and the start of the 2012 academic year. We would like to assist more students each year and amplify the scholarship fund's impact.
Some alumni have already heard about this effort through TigerCall. If you have given, thank you! If have not had a chance thus far, make a gift at secure.fhsu.edu/foundation/ Your contribution will help to keep Jack Heather's legacy alive, it recognizes a great individual, and most importantly it will benefit students for years to come. We will recognize donors at the 2012 Homecoming.
Thank you very much,
