The second annual "I Fed the Tiger" campaign has successfully come to a close. The campaign, run by the FHSU Foundation, operates entirely in a virtual space. There are neither phone calls nor print materials, just email, social networks and the internet. It is imperative that Fort Hays State University continues to engage with its alumni and friends through new avenues.
The "I Fed the Tiger" effort is also the Foundation’s first matching gift campaign. Any gift made to the "I Fed the Tiger" campaign is matched by one of our corporate sponsors. That means, if you make a $20 gift, the sponsoring business will also make a $20 gift to the designated area. No other campaign at FHSU offers the ability to double the impact you make for the University.
This year, the campaign had five different areas that benefited from corporate matching dollars: academics; athletics; campus life (various student organizations); the Sternberg Museum; and Tiger Impact, which is the name for special funds, such as the General Scholarship program which is the greatest need of the University.
The Foundation is extremely excited to report that the FHSU community earned their virtual stripes and helped us exceed our goals. Each of the different areas of the campaign had a $2,000 goal with the potential for a $2,000 match. We met or exceeded every area, raising over $13,000 from alumni and friends all over the country. The Foundation would like to thank our corporate sponsors - Cerv’s, Emprise Bank, McDonald’s, Buff Car Wash, and the FHSU Foundation - who collectively helped raise over $23,000 with the matching dollars to support FHSU departments, projects, and scholarships.
