Training Facility Field

The Schmidt-Bickle Indoor Training Facility has been constructed to help address growth in athletic participation and lack of practice space at FHSU. Gross Memorial Coliseum, built in the 1970s, still serves the department well for many sporting events and training, but has limited space for the year-round needs of multiple sports programs to maximize their individual and team performance goals.

The Department of Athletics and the FHSU Foundation have worked hand-in-hand to develop a facility that will suit the needs of a growing athletics program. The final project, and thus the benefit that Tiger athletics has received from the facility, is dependent on the generosity of all of us.

Athletics is a window to the FHSU campus. Today, there are well over 400 student-athletes at FHSU competing in one or more of the 18 men's and women's sports programs. The need to enhance and incorporate state-of-the-art facilities is vital to the success of current programs, the safety of our student-athletes, and recruiting the most talented athletes. We must always look ahead to see what we can be doing bigger and better than our competition. We need that competitive edge, especially as the MIAA conference grows larger and tougher.

The facility was named in honor of Bob & Pat Schmidt and Don & Chris Bickle, whose combined gifts towards this project totaled $2 million. We are forever grateful for the gifts that have come in thus far, however a variety of naming opportunities are still available within the facility.
